Our latest adventure!

Over a recent Bank Holiday weekend, Pendle Squadron took twelve cadets on a Lake District Adventure Training Camp. The aim was to build upon the aims of the ATC, such as fostering a spirit of adventure and developing teamwork.

The programme consisted of the following activities:

  • Orienteering in Grizedale Forest
  • Bungee Trampolining
  • Climbing wall belay instruction and climbing practice
  • Rheged Mountaineering Exhibition and 'Everest' IMAX film
  • Kayaking on Lake Windermere
  • Canoeing on Derwent Water
  • Ghyll Scrambling
  • Go Ape High Wire challenge

All cadets took part in the activities including the Ghyll Scrambling - sliding down a freezing cold river and jumping into deep rock pools and Go Ape - a high-wire forest adventure of ropes, bridges, Tarzan swings and zip slides 60 feet above the forest floor.

New skills were learned, fears overcome and friendships bonded. Overall, a successful four days! Thanks to all staff and cadets who made this possible.  Make sure your name is down for our next adventure in October
